Brera
Neighborhood, between art, history and nightlife
Il Coriandolo Restaurant is located in the most central part of Brera area, the most elegant neighborhood, rich in history and culture.
Frequented by many artists since the nineteenth century, Brera actually is one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of Milan: a magic plot of small streets, of antique trade shops, restaurants and interesting places.
Every third Sunday of the month, is held the Brera’s historical street market, very particular and fascinating, with antique trade stands, art conservators and secondhand dealers, dislocated between Fiori Chiari, Madonnina e Formentini streets.
Brera has some unique places, as Santa Maria del Carmine Church, the San Marco Church, the Scala Theater, the Piccolo Theater fondated by Giorgio Strehler, and the Pinacoteca gallery, which collects 38 rooms of masterpieces of Italian artists, from the fourteenth to the nineteenth century.
Between the aristocratic buildings of the city, Brera area is also known for its locals, restaurants and exclusive shops.
Scala Theater is situated in the heart of Brera and represents one of the main attraction of the city.
Founded in 1778, the Scala Theater is the main opera theater of Milan, and is known as one of the most important theaters of the world.
For over 240 years La Scala hosts the most prestigious artists from the International panorama of Opera and classic music.
Founded by Giorgio Strehler, Paolo Grassi and his wife Nina Vichi Grassi, the Piccolo Theater of Milan is the first Italian stable theater.
This important theater is dislocated in three rooms: the Grassi one (historic office in Rovello street, Brera neighborhood), the Teatro Studio Melato one (which also hosts the theater school), and the Teatro Strehler (the main headsquare).
